These poppy flowers are proposed for the Veterans pedestrian promenade in Pickering Ontario. The poppies will be fabricated from aluminum and powder-coated. Each will be uniquely hand-painted by Elvira and Dolores to reinforce the individuality of those who served. Constructed in 2 layers, they elegantly and gracefully demonstrate our gratitude for the service of our Veterans. The “eye” represents ongoing vigilance to prevent future wars, and suggests that there is a human cost to war that should be remembered.
