The Social Connection

The concept for our residency in Lions Park was inspired by the work of Dr. Suzanne Simard, Professor of Forest Ecology at UBC who describes a process by which trees communicate with each other through their roots. In this case the trees in Lions Park are dressed up as though they are at a party, sociallzing with each other and offering a suggestion that we are better off as a society if we work to support each other as trees do in the forest. Seven workshops were held with community and 25 trees were dressed in the Park.
